The wildfires in the westcoast are getting worse and worse. The smoke has spreaded to the whole west coast, including Seattle. On Saturday, Seattle's air was rated as "Very unhealthy air" and everything looks smoky and orange-ish. I took these and tweaked them a bit to be more "Blade Runner 2049" feeling.

Washington

In 2017, a researcher for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center warned about the links between air pollution and cancer and asked, “What if summer wildfires get worse?”

They have.

Meanwhile, a growing body of research has established that people are being exposed to carcinogens at every stage of the gas product cycle, from extraction to transmission to benzene leaking from gas-burning stoves.

Research by F Minus has found that leading cancer organizations such as Fred Hutch share lobbying firms with fossil fuel companies whose projects and products are exposing people to carcinogens. In Washington, Fred Hutch shares the lobbying firm of Insight Strategic Partners with these fossil fuel companies: Chevron, which is developing a new kind of jet fuel that poses a cancer risk 1 million times greater than recommended EPA limits; TransAlta, which operates a coal plant in Washington and a fleet of gas plants in Canada, and Puget Sound Energy.

F Minus is calling on the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and other anti-cancer organizations to recognize the risk that fossil fuels pose to our health and future and adopt a policy of not working with fossil fuel lobbyists.
