Tennessee

According to the EPA, climate-related health care costs in Tennessee will include greater instances of asthma and other respiratory disesases that are made worse by high temperatures and greeter concentrations of ground-level ozone. In 2022, lobbyists for fossil fuel lobbyists represented 30 different health care interests such as insurance companies and associations of health care professionals whose customers and patients will bear these costs.

Two of Tennessee’s most prominent cultural institutions also employed fossil fuel lobbyists. The Tennessee Performing Arts Center employed lobbyists who also worked for Piedmont Natural Gas, Valero Refining, and tar sands oil developer TC Energy. The Lorraine Civil Rights Foundation, which operates the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Hotel, employed two lobbyists who also worked for the Koch Companies.
