Indiana

Indiana’s warming climate will negatively affect human health, according to the April 2018 Indiana Climate Change Impacts Assessment. Higher temperatures will increase ground-level ozone and trigger more heart attacks and asthma attacks, and worsen conditions such as emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Cities like Indianapolis will create “heat islands” that intensify these health risks.

In 2022, fossil fuel lobbyists also lobbied on behalf of 14 health care interests in Indiana, including hospitals, insurers, and associations of of health care professionals whose customers and patients will bear these costs.
