DOGE cuts to education, housing, environmental protections, and an ever-expanding list of social programs are ruinous for local governments. As revealed by F Minus, more than 170 local government agencies are using taxpayers dollars to hire lobbying firms who represent Musk companies. In Maryland, Prince George’s County has employed the Congressional firm Invariant to support funding at many of the same agencies being destroyed by DOGE. In Oregon, an otherwise progressive lobbying firm acquired Tesla as a client the week before the 2024 election, at a moment when the harm from Musk and Trump to its other clients was clear.
